Two Great Shows-- The Saint

art/official is proud to team up with Defend New Orleans to promote two great shows coming up this week! First off on Thursday, prepare for a night of HEAVY dancing. Our friends Jean-Eric will be performing at the Saint, and there is nothing like Jean-Eric in a small venue! The prominent Christoph Andersson will also perform with Jean-Eric, and will be spinning a sexy disco/house set. The jams will only be amplified with resident Saint DJ Musa, who will be teaming up with Brice Nice to keep up the dancing late into the evening. Best of all... it's free! This is a night not to be missed.

The very next night, also at the Saint, there will be an evening of quality indie music. Gens, which is comprised of several members from the Generationals will share the small venue with Lafayette indie rockers Brass Bed, folk-rock outfit Giant Cloud (featuring the lovely Julie Odell-Jones), and local Loyola project Native America. $5 @ the door. Get to these shows early people, the Saint has been filling up lately.

ART/OFFICIAL IS A PROUD SPONSOR!! ^^
Tulane University Campus Programming (TUCP) has truly stepped up its musical game this year. Free music on campus has begun to really put Tulane on the map. Booked by art/official's own Aaron Saltzman, Tulane has seen a plethora of amazing up and coming acts. Opening the school year, rising European pop star Japayork graced the campus with one sexy dance set. Not two months later Dr. Dog, The Local Natives, and the Ruby Suns were here, all playing FREE SHOWS!

Well the new semester has just begun, and Tulane University Campus Programming has much more in store for the city of New Orleans. Thank God It's Mardi Gras is the annual concert thrown as a celebration of the start of the holiday season. Past performances have included many big names in brass from around the city. This year things will be a little different for the event. Working tirelessly for the past few months Saltzman has booked an unbelievable line-up of some of New Orlean's hottest up and coming acts. You can see the line-up above, but here we are going to give you a short run down of what each of these acts are about. We have included a track from each act that you are free to listen to and download (right click + "save as"). If you like what you hear there are loads more tracks from each act on the web!

Christoph Andersson---Disco Disco Disco!

Christoph

Teen songwriter and producer Christoph Andersson didn't exactly have the upbringing associated with that of a budding pop electro sensation, yet at age 18 he stands poised to break into that market in a very big way. Born in Washington D.C., Christoph spent his next two years in Germany before relocating to his current city New Orleans as a toddler. In the town long associated with either Jazz or Metal, Christoph was more or less left to his own musical devices. Christoph's tight, funk influenced bass lines are instantly catchy, in part a nod to New Orleans legends like The Meters, whose hit "Fire On the Bayou" Christoph reworked into an up-tempo secret weapon for southern dance floors. His melodies are the stuff of pop lore. "You know when you hear a song the first time, and you swear you've heard on the radio before? That's how I feel every time Christoph sends me a new track. His consistency is almost scary. He's got this ability to suck up the songwriting lessons not only from contemporary electro acts like Chromeo and Ratatat, but also from far reaching songwriting heavyweights Philip Glass and Ryuichi Sakamoto, all with a healthy dose of French house" says TKVR member John Braun.

**So that is the official bio our friends at TKVR sent us. Its a bit lengthy. All you really need to know is that this track makes you want to shake your rump. Enjoy :)
