julian lynch: "terra"

8

julian lynch is a good ole' boy from new jersey who was high school friends with and plays music with the guys from the late great real estate, among others. he was on my top 50 albums of last year list, and dammit, this makes me remember why. this track begins with a down tempo clarinet solo before settling on mid tempo, percussion heavy rhythm that makes you feel like you're on the east coast. i have a feeling that's the point. i proclaim this to be the best song of 2011, thus far. lynch's new album, Terra, drops april, 26 via underwater peoples; album artwork included below.

New~ Hercules and Love Affair!

Pop music has officially entered the 90s. Trans-like piano compositions are sure to dominate this next year of pop music without a doubt. Here is a brand new track from an old favorite of mine Hercules and Love Affair. I must admit I like the songs with Antony Hegarty on vocals the best (his voice is just surreal), but this is still pretty cool!

The song is called "My House." There is a bit shorter version on youtube without this video. The sound quality on it is better, but this video is worth it. Start your day dancing :)

A New Orlean's Excusive! New Music: A Midnight Plume

A Midnight Plume is an instrumental and gorgeously space layered prog rock heap of sound. When asked why they went the instrumental direction, Christian Van Campen, the band's founder, says,' It's funny we're just doing these big lush soundscapes where the instruments take you to such strange lovely places and we're finding we can get you there without signs, road maps or any spoken directions of any kind, and we can sing, but really don't have anything to sing about for now. Maybe we should sing about that.' A Midnight Plume is reconstructing the band and going live this summer just as soon as they find a solid core of band members to take the sound to the next level. They're calling for artists; specifically acoustic and electric guitars, bass, keyboardists, and drums. They need artists who have a musical voice of their own and are ready to contribute sonic ideas. Those interested in being a part of A Midnight Plume should check out some specially posted works in progress at myspace.com/midnightplume and contact Christian at midnightplume@aol.com.

Hope you enjoy it!
